With her infectious smile and her charming charisma, it is no wonder that Japanese model Kiko Mizuhara is currently one of the hottest girl in Japan. Often appearing in Japanese magazines, this time around she has been making several appearances as the face of some international brands like designer Phillip Lim's F/W 2013 Collection and also Maison Kitsune F/W 2013 Collection.
Well, I am not posting the campaign photos because it shows too little of Kiko and I thought the behind-the-scene photos are more 'real' as if they speak to you - telling you about the good old fashion history in the early 50s how rockabilly came about and how people in that era wore it. Plus, there was a lot of Kiko in these photos as well. Have fun looking at them and also, don't forget to watch the campaign video right at the bottom.

Things are slightly different this time especially with many fresh faces in the fashion scene now. There are some people which I know on a personal level like old media friends and some I do know of because of them being a celebrity. So it was a good blend of the new and the old in the crowd.
And, I wasn't alone at the show as my friends came along with me so the whole 'awkwardness' wouldn't be too overwhelming. As we walked to the registration counter, we were somehow lost and not in that direction sense but 'lost' because we don't know whom to register with as there were several counters with several people.
So, we waited a bit for someone familiar to assist us. While we were onto that, a photographer asked us for a photo as we were standing right in front of the 'red carpet' wall and we smiled with our daze faces while flashes blinded our eyes for a second or two. Then, we went up to the counter again and this time, we didn't recognise anybody 'familiar' but a very nice man assisted us with our passes and directed us to our designated seats. He even rushed us nicely as the show was about to start. This means we were one of the latecomers and I am very happy to use this infamous fashion saying 'fashionably late' because it is very appropriate and accurate to that situation. This was our dramatic spur moment of enjoying being the very important person at the event as we walked down the aisle to our seats and there were some eyes on us and this may make me sound like a sponge but I spotted some people looking at us. Hah!
It was wonderful because we felt like superstars even though it was just twenty seconds.
Oh, and we were given ice-cream to enjoy the show which I thought was sweet and weird. Sweet because ice-cream makes people happy. Weird because ice-cream is enemy to fashionistas especially the sweet mother of fatty calories. That, I find somehow weird.
Anyway, so the show started and I thought I was real excited at first but in all honesty, I wasn't. It could be because of some designs were bland and the music gave me yawns. And, I wasn't alone on this because the guys sitting behind me were yawning as well when I took a quick stretch exercise to stay awake and that's where I caught them. I can't remember all the designers but just this one, who goes by the name of Ezzati Amira who had one particular dress that stole my eyes in every good way. It was a beautiful mermaid dress made of shiny sequins and what more than my favourite two colours of blue and green.

DAY 1: The gorgeous mermaid dress by Ezzati. If only my phone camera captures a clearer shot of this dress, it'll be perfect for your eyes to check this beauty out comfortably. |
Then, another designer caught my attention was designer Pearly Wong and it was not because of her gorgeous minimal designs alone but the music that was playing during her show. It was my favourite song from my favourite DJ and hearing that song played at a high fashion event is rare because he isn't a famous 'Guetta'. The moment the song went on, the crowd was all charged up and it was evident because the guys behind me started to talk really loud about the song and even the models haven't appeared yet. One of them even started to search for the song. I wanted to tell them who the artiste was but I was shy (as usual) so I kept quiet, as always. But, I was really happy that they played Gesaffelstein's OPR because it got everybody pumped up which was good.
The last day of KLFW was sweet and short for me and I meant that literally. We were really late this time so we only managed to catch ten minutes of the show or maybe less than that but it was a beautiful collection by veteran style guru Khoon Hooi where his majestic ensembles were enjoyed by a loud applause and some standing ovation from some celebrities like Ning Baizura and Marion Caunter. I would do the same thing too but if it wasn't for my feet that needed a break off the ground from my five-inch stilettos.

DAY 2: Khoon Hooi's collection is very well presented with an interesting blend of bold and subtle elements that screams for a majestic royal party! |
All in all, KLFW was a fun experience for me although the sound system could be better. Hope the next one beats this, like always.
Toodles!

I have always loved flowers. Flowers of any sort. There is something very peculiar yet beautiful about them. Not just how nice they smell all the time and how pretty they dance in front of our eyes but the inexplicable feeling of calmness it gives you - that is gold.
Growing up in a warm beautiful house with beautiful greens created by my mother, I have always enjoyed the companion of her garden where I would sit down with a cup of tea and sketch or read, in fact I still do all of that just not that much for the current time. Not forgetting, music listening also takes place in her garden most times where I would listen to the old or the new artistes of different genres. There was once I played the entire Kasabian album when I was finishing up some painting for college and another time, Garbage song 'Stupid Girl' was on repeat for about ten or fifteen times when I felt down because I didn't know what to study for my exams. Good times.
Anyway, back to the 'flowers' topic. I love festivals. And, I love going to festivals because I can dance freely in a crowd like a six year old and not feeling awkward because most people are drunk and they don't care if you dance funny as long as everyone is happy, that's all that matters really. Also, I have set my very own tradition whenever I go for gigs or festivals and that is to put on a flower headband or any kind of headbands. It completes me fully; in every sort of happiness. So, most of my friends know about this and I have since known to them as a flower child.
A week ago, my good friend Cat asked me whether can she shoot me for her portfolio with the 'flower child' theme and I didn't hesitate but agreed on the spot. Plus, I have received a box of coloured contacts from Glasses Online on that day so I figured why not just dress up and be pretty because it's going to be fun and it was fun. So I had my makeup done by Cat and wore my flower garland that I made when I was bored while watching Rocky Horror Show by Tim Curry. Anyway, my friend Cat has magic hands that magically makes you look like a supermodel on a front cover and I am not kidding because I couldn't recognise my face in the pictures. All in all, it was fun and nice to play Kiko Mizuhara or entirely, just me.
ps: Keep your eyes peeled for my coloured contacts review from Glasses Online. And here's my current favourite from Gold Panda, have a listen!

As I am a huge fan of Garbage and the awesome hot stuff Shirley Manson, my friend Cat got me into dressing like her just for the fun of it at one of her shoots. She styled me from head to toe. Punk goth makeup to getting that Shirley Manson pose right at 30 something degree posture. It was a pretty intense shoot but all good. What I'm wearing:
Fishnet stockings worn as arm sleeves - iSocks
Red Dress - Vintage from Cat
Creepers - Cat

Alright, so I know I should be snoring by now (0150) as I have an early day for this third week of November (yes, in about 5 hours to be exact), rather than clicking and typing on this gorgeous machine. Today or let's just rewind back to yesterday i.e. minus 1 hour and fifty minutes or 110 minutes ago, my Sunday was definitely a pretty swell one to wrap up the weekend. Not only I had a long day of shoot but an intense packing and checking as I'm leaving for London tomorrow. I am beat to the last minute that clocks the end of my Sunday. Overwhelmed would best conclude my Sunday. I feel so happy with the shoot today having my partner in crime Catherhea on board where we were decked in massive spontaneous fun juice. It was very awkward for me to pose in public looking like what a porcelain doll would nonchalantly work best at, I am no model but I was the typical and annoying melly goofing around, yak way too much and even shed some calories with 'intense' jumps and stretching! The styling and makeup was so pretty. Well put colourfully together by Cat, she has magic fingers! All in all, I love my Sunday and I'm so excited for my trip to London. My mum is coming with me for my graduation and I can't wait for mummy-daughter shopping. X
ps: (daddy, if you're reading this)... thanks Dad for the best education and guidance to life and love, thank you for being the best father i could ever ask for, you're not just a dad but a great mentor and a friend. I love you dad. Wish you can be there for my big day tho. x
I am usually not a fan of the cold. Anything that hits the negative point OR being less than a normal 21 degrees, I'll freeze! Anyway, despite all of that, I am a huge fan of winter getups! Adoring almost every piece of winter's ensemble from tench coats, capes, jumpers, scarves to boots. I have been making a detour to fashion blogs recently to get my winter fix as I'll be headed to London again in two weeks time. Ecstatic. In fact, massive joy overload with my mum on board. She is excited too as this will be her first visit to the Great Britain. We both are stoked and can't wait to put on our leather trenchies and start the winter affair. x
